Bill specializes in patent, trademark, and copyright law with a focus on a wide range of technologies including life sciences, software, electronics, digital media, and clean technology companies.
Bill’s counseling experience includes strategic IP counseling and global patent portfolio development, drafting non-infringement and validity opinions, freedom-to-operate analyses, invention records management plans, and patent portfolio and internal patent processes management. Bill’s patent prosecution experience includes drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications in a wide range of technology spaces including biotechnology, software and data security, oil and gas, automation and controls, and amusement park ride equipment. Bill also has significant experience in negotiating and drafting license agreements and intellectual property due diligence as it relates to mergers and acquisitions.
Bill’s trademark practice includes counseling clients regarding brand protection and international trademark portfolio strategy, including clearance analyses and maximizing brand protection and value. Bill also assist companies, large and small, to implement internal brand protection processes.
Prior to joining the firm, Bill worked with General Electric, where he drafted patent applications and managed global portfolios for a number of GE businesses including GE Intelligent Platforms, GE Healthcare, GE Aviation, GE Oil and Gas, and NBC/Universal Studios.
